Okubo, who will wear the number 8 jersey for VfL Wolfsburg, had been under contract at Vissel Kobe since 2007 (and also made two appearances for Cerezo Osaka) where he scored 57 goals in 116 games. During the 2005/2006 season, the striker spent a loan spell in Spain with RCD Mallorca (39 games, 5 goals).
